Polishing Supplies
Buffing Compounds
Buffing consists of two stages: cutting down and coloring. Cutting down is done to refine a surface by removing scratch lines, form-
ing marks and other surface imperfections. It makes a relatively smooth surface smoother. Coloring merely refines the cut-down sur-
face and brings out the maximum luster. Gesswein offers a complete line of top-quality compounds for all buffing needs. The same
compound may produce different finishes on various materials; therefore, some experimentation may be necessary to determine
which ones are preferable. Many polishing compounds contain respirable silica or other hazardous ingredients. Be sure to use a dust
collector to pull polishing dust away from your breathing zone. For optimum protection, wear a properly fitted respirator rated for
the specific dust or chemicals with which you are working.
